MY BACKGROUND

  • Started serious training at age 7 with intensive programs at Pureking Sports in Hangzhou—drilling the fundamentals every single day.
  • From 9th grade onward, trained full-time at Shanghai Xuhui Junior Sports School, where the focus was competitive tactics, explosive footwork, and match stamina.
  • Won the Men’s Singles Championship at a Southern California Badminton Club tournament.
  • Multiple strong finishes in local club and open tournaments.
  • 2+ years coaching locally, working with juniors and recreational adults.

Hey there! I’m Steven, a club badminton coach here in the Irvine/Orange County, south california area. What I bring to the court is a rock-solid foundation from years of serious training in China’s highly competitive youth system, plus real on-court success right here in Southern California.

My mission is simple: help local players—kids and adults alike—play better, smarter, and with fewer injuries by focusing on proper technique and efficient movement. I love seeing my students get excited when things finally “click” on the court.

WHAT I OFFER

  • Clear, patient technical corrections (grip, swing path, timing—so you hit cleaner shots with less effort).
  • Active sparring—I get on the court and play points with you to build real match feel and endurance.
  • Kid-friendly coaching that keeps young players motivated and having fun while still learning proper habits.
