Requirements — Legal & Compliance
Required for every position.
Legal Work Authorization (I-9)
You must be authorized to work in the United States (U.S. citizen, permanent resident, or valid EAD/visa). Every hire completes Form I-9 verification, and all work is on the payroll — no cash or off-the-books arrangements.
Mandatory Live Scan Background Check
Under California law (AB 506) for youth service organizations, every candidate must clear a California Department of Justice (DOJ) and FBI Live Scan fingerprint background check before starting work.
SafeSport & Safety Certifications
Within 14 days of hire, you’ll need U.S. Center for SafeSport training plus current Adult & Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED certification from the American Red Cross or AHA.
Experience & Skills
What we look for on the court.
- +Competitive badminton background: Experience playing at the college club, state or national level, or on the BWF circuit, is strongly preferred.
- +Proven coaching track record: At least 1–2 years of coaching, from junior camps and group classes to one-on-one lessons for competitive players.
- +Lesson planning: You can plan step-by-step lessons for mixed-level groups — from beginner footwork to advanced smash technique.
- +Professionalism: Energetic, coachable yourself, and committed to the high standard our families expect from PureKing.
Nice to Have
What helps you stand out.
- +Bilingual fluency: Strong English communication skills are required. Mandarin or Cantonese is a big plus — many of our Irvine families speak one of them at home.
- +Reliable transportation: Reliable transportation around Orange County and a valid California driver's license are required.
- +Flexible availability: Evenings and weekends, especially during busy seasons — our players are on court after school and work.
